GROWING UP
My name is Mrs. Malaura Easton. I have lived in La Mirada since 1983 when I came to attend Biola University. Before that, I lived in many different places with my parents and 3 older sisters because my dad was an engineer in the USArmy. I am sure my love for travel, adventure, and diverse cultures originates from moving around a lot with my family. My fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Curtis, is the reason why I became a teacher. She inspired me! |
TEACHING
In 1987, I graduated from Biola University, got married, and began teaching at Gardenhill Elementary. Two years later, I moved to La Pluma School where I have taught kinder thru fourth grade. This is my 32nd year of teaching (I can't quite believe it myself!). I absolutely love what I do: I teach children! It's my goal to make learning meaningful, fun, and rewarding. I am still a learner myself. |
My Family
While working at La Pluma, I have raised three daughters with my husband Bob. He is the principal at Corvalis Middle School in Norwalk. While our daughters have fond memories of learning at La Pluma, they are all much older now. Our oldest, Aly, is a graduate student in Chicago. Our second, Maranda, graduated college in Boston and now works in downtown Los Angeles. Our youngest, Kennedy, is working in fitness and is the mother to our grandson Nico! |
